Framed size 12" x 18", with non reflective glass.   After not painting goldfinches for a long time, I have had a run just lately.  Their popularity seems to be growing!  I chose these thistles for the striking colour, which shows up well against the evening background.  Just as the birds themselves do! SOLD at the Hadleigh Show.

The goldfinch is a highly coloured finch with a bright red face and yellow wing patch. Sociable, often breeding in loose colonies, they have a delightful liquid twittering song and call.  Read more..... RSPB Goldfinch  

The painting is on Cold Press, extra heavy, off white Crescent art board and I aim to produce the finest detail in both the subject and its natural setting.  The shade of the Daler mountboard is carefully selected depending on the painting, as is the toning of the frame itself.
