This Red Kite design is on live-edged, kiln dried spalted beech, with smooth, undulating edges. A really splendid piece, which combines my highlight of the main subject with the beauty of the wood. Once the wood is sanded to a very smooth finish, the bird is painted using acrylics followed by finishing the work in a matt or gloss varnish to seal the image. Painting on different surfaces is both challenging and satisfying, the finished product makes the finished product makes a striking, unique feature piece.
