Framed Size 21" x 9", with non reflective glass. My first Tawny Owl, The Watchful Owl, l was in my earlier style having a white background, with the main subject highlighted in what became my characteristic blue/grey shading. This beauty was inspired by the commission for the pair of Tawny Owls. For these I used my more recent approach of having a background colour. SOLD to an Australian Collector
The painting is on Cold Press, extra heavy, off white Crescent art board and I aim to produce the finest detail in both the subject and its natural setting. The shade of the Daler mountboard is carefully selected depending on the painting, as is the toning of the frame itself.
The Tawny Owl is an owl the size of a woodpigeon. It has a rounded body and head, with a ring of dark feathers around its face surrounding the dark eyes. Read more.......RSPB Tawny Owl
