Framed size 21" x 9", with non reflective glass. After the popularity of my original Kingfisher on Bullrushes, I wanted to paint something even more atmospheric. I love the lighting in this picture. This is a male Kingfisher, defined by its all black beak. The female has orange on the underside of the bill whilst juveniles have a white tip on the end of their bill. SOLD at Needham Market Art Exhibition.
Their feet are very small, with the two outer toes partly fused together. The birds nest in holes tunnelled into earth banks. There is only one UK species, which is waterside. Read more.....RSPB Kingfisher family
The painting is on Cold Press, extra heavy, off white Crescent art board and I aim to produce the finest detail in both the subject and its natural setting. The shade of the Daler mountboard is carefully selected depending on the painting, as is the toning of the frame itself.
