Framed size 12" x 12", with non reflective glass. The simplicity of this painting appeals to me, the nuthatch being my favourite bird. On our visits to Pensthorpe we have sat in one of the hides, waiting for them to appear and they did....eventually! SOLD at Birdfair 2019
The nuthatch is a plump bird about the size of a great tit that resembles a small woodpecker. It is blue-grey above and whitish below, with chestnut on its sides and under its tail. It has a black stripe on its head, a long black pointed bill and short legs. Read more.....RSPB Nuthatch
The painting is on Cold Press, extra heavy, off white Crescent art board and I aim to produce the finest detail in both the subject and its natural setting. The shade of the Daler mountboard is carefully selected depending on the painting, as is the toning of the frame itself.
