Framed size 12" x 12", with-non reflective glass. A Grey Wagtail, to be coupled with the Yellow Wagtail painting maybe? The painting is on Cold Press, extra heavy, off white Crescent art board and I aim to produce the finest detail in both the subject and its natural setting. The shade of the Daler mountboard is carefully selected depending on the painting, as is the toning of the frame itself. This became a gift to my son, who is taking a great interest in birds himself.
Grey Wagtails are more colourful than their name suggests, with slate grey upper parts and distinctive lemon yellow under-tail. Their tails are noticeably longer than those of pied and yellow wagtails. They have gradually increased their range in recent years, have expanded into the English lowlands.
